Seems like most folks are often talking about pre-flop strategy, so I would like to speak a little bit about how I wager on soon after the flop. Perhaps I can support others, or possibly they’ve got advice to enhance my play.

I think that two of the most essential plays immediately after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive wager. That is because these are the plays you make once you havent hit a hand but you could have a very good drawing hand. Its easy to wager on a hand when you flop a monster. But I imagine that these two are the greatest techniques to bet on a drawing. Each one is bet depending on you opponent(s) and your postion. So here is how I wager on it, so tell me what you think.

Early Place – Tight Competitors:

A semi-bluff works fairly nicely in this position. Come out gambling and if a tight gambler didn’t hit a hand he will most likely lay down, and if he’s unsure you may possibly have a call. But watch out, if that tight gambler comes back more than the best it may well be time to get away.

Early Placement – Loose Opponents

It is were I like to complete a defensive wager. Come to a decision how a lot of chips you’re willing to risk on your draw and wager. This can be normally a much smaller wager than normal. It has been my understanding that the loose gambler will usually just call a wager instead of re-raise. Nonetheless, should you check to them, theyre far more likely to throw in additional chips than your willing to pay.

Late Placement – Tight Opponents

This can be the greatest time to do a semi-bluff, specially if most of the table checks. If that’s the case you will probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler prior to has bet, you might have to choose if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he will most likely go away since he was attempting to steal the pot. If you imagine he does, properly then it’s time to compute your odds, and decide if the pot odds are worth the call.

Late Location – Loose Opponents

This one is really a bit complicated, simply because it’s more difficult to put a loose gambler on a hand. And if your in late place against loose player, odds are they have already bet. It is were I usually choose to take a chance and are available back over the best of them and pray they do not call, and if they do, nicely then its time to gamble. Chances are although even a loose player will go away in the event you appear back strong enough.

Keep in mind though that these are moves I only make soon after the flop comes and I have a reasonable drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Possibly four to the flush or the open ended straight, for example.
