Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the final game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers anywhere in the world. While wagering on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
