Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
