Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players around the world. While participating in net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard of.
