Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
