Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
